I had a really great spring break. First of all, the fucking winter semester was finally over. I had a hell of a time this semester, all science and math classes, including the evil advanced stats and vertebrate physiology. But I passed everything, with two C's and two C+'s. Which is fine with me. And I finally found a job for the summer, working on the invasive plant problem in Rock Creek Park, which sounds like fun and will look great on my resume.

I got a DVD player over winter break, and I've been buying DVD's left and right. So far I've got The Nightmare Before Christmas, Heavenly Creatures, Whale Rider, Bowling For Columbine, Bound, Fight Club, Buffy seasons 1-5, Dark Angel season 1, Waking Life, The Magdalene Sisters, Ginger Snaps, Lost and Delirious, and Stand By Me. DVD's are so much fun, with the no rewinding and the chapter skipping and all. Oh, and my parents got a new computer with a DVD rom, which means I can do screencaps, to make cool desktops and whatnot.

And last Sunday I went to the March for Women's Lives, with my mom and a couple of her friends, which was SO fucking fun. It was the biggest march/protest/rally I've ever been to, and supposedly the biggest one DC's ever had. The number was between hundreds of thousands and a million, depending on who you ask. It was just so cool being there, surrounded by all those people who feel just as strongly as me about the need for abortion rights (and other reproductive rights).

Best moments from the march:

-Seeing a guy wearing a Tom Tomorrow shirt (The one with Sparky saying "George Bush is a Wanker!")

-Seeing a transvestite (transexual?) on the subway reading The Red Tent.

-Getting in an argument with one of the meager few anti-choicers along the sidelines (she demanded to know how old I was and if I was married, and if I was having premarital sex--not sure what kind of point she was trying to get to. I didn't mention the whole lesbian thing).

-Hearing Ani Difranco perform "God's Country" and "Your Next Bold Move".

-Seeing a man holding up a sign that said "U.S. out of my uterus".

So, now I've started my spring term class (we have a month long spring term with one class), which is Ornithology. So far it looks interesting, and I can't say I'll mind just hanging around looking at birds all day. Although I will mind that the class starts at 5:30 in the morning. But it's only for four weeks, so I think I can stand it.
