day after new moon
april 13, 2002 ~ 3:47 p.m.

I got a domain! So check it out at nyctophilia.net.

The last two weeks have been so great. Last Friday (April 5) I turned in the ten page paper I'd been procrastinating doing for weeks. It took me two days, literally, to write the whole damn thing, and I think it turned out pretty well. So that was out of the way, thank the gods. And then that night a group of us went to see Ellis play in Duluth -- she's a lesbian singer-songwriter from Minneapolis, and she's really good. I've been getting into folk-rock more lately, with Ani Difranco and Melissa Ferrick. Now I'm thinking I want to learn to play the guitar. Maybe I can get my brother to teach me a little, he's been playing since he was eleven or something and he's really good.

Then we stopped at a gay bar in Superior which I was really excited about because I've been wanting to go to a gay bar and haven't had a chance (except one time me and some friends tried to go to the Hung Jury but it's $20 if you're under 21, which is so not worth it). So that was fun, especially evading the ID checkers that were coming around, except that I didn't get to drink at all.

Then the next night there was a huge party a few blocks from campus with three kegs and I got so drunk. It only took me four beers too, which is way less than the last time, but it has been a while, so maybe my tolerance has gone back up or something. Anyway that was awesome, it seemed like all 750 students must have been packed into that house, all of them drunk and dancing to hip-hop.

Then yesterday, which was Friday, was the last day of classes for the semester, except for finals next week, and we finally presented our group project for Conservation Biology, another thing out of the way. So everything is turned in and all I have to do is take finals, although that kind of sucks since I have one for all five classes, but they won't take too long.

Next Friday I'm going home for spring break, and I'm really excited because this semester has been dragging on for way too long. This is the longest I've ever been away from home -- even last semester, there was Thanksgiving break in the middle. This one has been four months long...I really need to get out of the cold and the snow (even in April there's snow here! It's melting and getting dirty but it's still here, while DC apparently got 3 inches this whole winter) and I need to get away from my room mate and sleep in a room by myself, and I just need to be home again. Besides, I can't wait to see the look on my parents' faces when they see my tattoo! I'm sure they'll be completely flabbergasted.
