four days to first quarter
february 12, 2005 ~ 4:31 a.m.

I know I haven't written in a while. Mainly it's because I've been busy, last year of college and all. Also I don't write that often anyway.

Two new things on my website: One is my pantheist photoblog, where I post pictures and write on anything related to religion. The other is my encyclopaedia of herbs, where I've got information on my favorite plants. When I was unschooling, one of my "classes" was studying wild plants, and I was working on a book of the uses of DC area plants, which I never finished. So it occured to me one day that it would make much more sense to put it online, instead: that way, it's automatically published and available to anyone and everyone. Another benefit is that I can put in as many pictures as I want, since there's no space limit. And, of course, I can add things whenever I want. Right now, I've only got eight plants listed, but I'm working on more, and I can add them as I finish them.

Well, Bush's presidency is now more than half over, which is at least one upside of the inauguration. I really wish I could've gone to this one; I went to the last one and protested and it was so much fun. We actually caused his limo to have to speed up as it passed by, so he wouldn't see too much protesting I guess. Anyway, I was stuck in Wisconsin for this one (that seems to be a recurring theme in my life--always stuck in Wisconsin when anything interesting happens back home), but whatever. I'll be back in 2009 when Hillary or whoever is swearing in. And it looks like McCain is gearing up to run again, and I actually wouldn't really mind if he won, I have to say. He's certainly better than what we've got from the GOP right now. Though of course I'm still hoping that by some miracle Winona LaDuke will get elected. (Not bloody likely, I know. But I can dream.)

Way back in 2003 when the Supreme Court struck down sodomy laws, I discovered that DC still had a law against "fornication" outside of marriage, and wondered why the hell it hadn't been removed from the books. Well, I just found that it finally has--last summer, the City Council repealed it, after decades of not enforcing it. So, finally, another success in the fight for civil liberties. Even if it was a meaningless out of date unenforced law.

Of course, I hear Virginia is still enforcing their sodomy law, despite the Lawrence v. Texas decision--so I suppose there are still some battles to be won on that front.

Wow, I can't believe how late it is. I usually never stay up this late, and I took a mugwort-chamomile tea a few hours ago, which really should be making me tired. Oh well. Maybe it's just cause it's Friday.
