two days after first quarter
may 31, 2001 ~ 5:08 p.m.

Today was a good day, but it was also a weird day. I ran into my old boss, which is something I’ve been afraid would happen since I walk by the store every day. It was somewhat uncomfortable because I haven’t seen her since February and I promised when I left that I would visit, and I never did. But it was okay, because we only chatted for a few minutes before I moved on, and now if I see her we won’t even have to speak, just wave or smile, because we’ve already caught up with each other.

Then at work I had to go down to the Regency on Capitol Hill to sell books at a book signing. And since I’d never done an offsite event before, I had no idea what I was doing, so I’ve been a bit nervous about it all week. But, thank the gods, at the last minute they decided to send Jeanine along, too, which made me feel better about it. And it went pretty smoothly, for the most part, and we sold lots of books. The book is pretty interesting, too, it’s an autobiography by the former chief of the Cherokee Nation, and we got to meet her also. So when that was over I was relieved, because I’d been so nervous and it turned out fine.

And then I found out that I can take a vacation, which is so great because I was invited to the beach again this year, and it was so much fun last year. A whole week of freedom, ocean, boardwalk, yummy vegan food, cotton candy, and cable tv.
